KGH Sewing Projects

•Wrapped in a Hug project (Home Health and ICU) – needs Blankets. Crocheted, sewn, knitted blankets for Patients/family. Sizes for Home Health 36” x 44” for those in wheelchairs; ICU Family Blanket 44” x 72” (approx.) Baby/Pediatric blankets to give to patients in the winter. Need 25- Quilted, knit or crocheted.

Fetal Demise Receiving Blankets- 16” x 16” receiving blankets (or a little smaller). Baby flannel either hemmed or serged.

•Walker bags for joint replacement patients – we’ll need lots of these. We can have 8 patients a week needing a walker bag when they are discharged. Pattern and material available.

•Oncology needs (hats, scarves etc. for cancer patients). We’ll be working on finding patterns. If anyone has a good pattern they would like to share, that would be wonderful!

•Busy blankets for restless patients on our Medical Surgical Floor and ICU – This seems to be an ongoing need. Would like to have 25 on hand. Instructions and pictures are available.

•All items must be made with new materials. Items with animal hair or smell of cigarette smoke cannot be accepted. Contact: Brenda Draper 509.586.5117

Project Linus

Project Linus could always use kid-friendly colored fabric in 100% cotton or flannel, nice craft thread , and nice quality yarn for our knitters/crocheters–no wool, please.

Project Linus is always in need of help with blankets.We can have individual groups such as YW, R.S., tie quilts for us (we provide the materials). We would love to have kids 5-18 years old draw on 8” muslin squares with fabric markers to make into quilts-they don’t even have to do any sewing. This could be done with a cub scout group, cheer squads or sports teams. , mid-week activity days for the young girls or YM or YW’s group.

The Children’s Museum needs help sewing:

1.Costumes for dress-up-Very easy sewing just a hems and a casing. The museum will provide the fabric.

Crafts for the ARC of the Tri-Cities

Feeling creative? The ARC needs Pom-Poms made out of cheap plastic table cloths. Bright Colors for summer camp kids to use to cheer on challenger league games.
We also need signs on poster paper-and Poster Boards that say Welcome Partners N Pals and Partners N Pals

Yarn Donations Needed

Do you have any Yarn?

Cold days may be almost over here but the Volunteer Center is again in need of yarn for its Project Warm-Up so that dozens of crafters will have ready hats, scarves, mittens and blankets for children next winter.Hundreds of warm articles also are made throughout the year for babies and the elderly. Skeins can be dropped off at the Volunteer Center at Dayton and 10thAvenue in Kennewick.
