Catholic Family & Child Services--Donations Needed

We could use donations of gently used baby & toddler furniture, equipment & toys & household furnishings to help new foster families & teens. We are also looking for people to provide food for foster parent support group meetings. We also encourage foster families to keep up paper work

by holding a monthly raffle. If anyone has something to contribute, it would wonderful.

Crafts for the ARC of the Tri-Cities

Feeling creative? The ARC needs Pom-Poms made out of cheap plastic table cloths. Bright Colors for summer camp kids to use to cheer on challenger league games.
We also need signs on poster paper-and Poster Boards that say Welcome Partners N Pals and Partners N Pals

Yarn Donations Needed

Do you have any Yarn?

Cold days may be almost over here but the Volunteer Center is again in need of yarn for its Project Warm-Up so that dozens of crafters will have ready hats, scarves, mittens and blankets for children next winter.Hundreds of warm articles also are made throughout the year for babies and the elderly. Skeins can be dropped off at the Volunteer Center at Dayton and 10thAvenue in Kennewick.

Eyeglass donations

For more than 80 years, Lions Clubs have recycled glasses--cleaning, classifying and distributing them around the world.  Children's glasses are especially needed.

For more information, go to www.lionsclub.org.  You can also drop off used eyewear at LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical or Sunglass Hut locations to be distributed to those in need by www.givethegiftofsight.org.

We could use donations of gently used baby & toddler furniture, equipment & toys to help new foster families to get set up, as well as household furnishings for foster teens who "age out' of care at age 18. After age 18, there is a program called Foster Care to College Mentoring and it's purpose is to match mentors with foster youth who are planning to go to college. Volunteers are needed.

We try to encourage foster families to keep up with turning in paper work (a necessary but monotonous procedure) by holding a monthly raffle. Families get a ticket for each item of paperwork that they submit. If anyone has something to contribute, it would be very helpful (we don’t have a budget for purchasing prizes). An extra special idea would be to offer the use of a vacation home/time share to a family with extraordinary circumstance, subject to the discretion of the donor.

Operation Thank You

From the Tri-City Herald:

Operation Thank You is seeking donations for its next shipment of boxes to troops overseas.

Money also will be accepted, and donations can be brought to Fun 2 Learn, 5215 W Clearwater Ave., No 109, Kennewick.

Examples of items that can be donated inlude clothing, snack items such as prepackaged tuna kits or beef jerky, toiletries, magazines, books, CDs and DVDs.

In December, the group shipped 386 boxes.

Law Enforcement Agencies have come together to collect & distribute used cell phones to any community member who needs a 911 phone.
